The Magic Begins: Day 9 A character you feel the need to defend.

James Potter

I have a lot of feelings about people who hate on James, but I’ll do my best to write it as simply as possible. James was indeed a toerag in his early teens, and eventually grew out of it whether to prove to Lily he could, or because he wanted to do it for himself. I don’t believe that James is proud of his bullying ways, and I still believe he was a git for being so cruel to Snape, BUT I think he truly was a good person. He took great pride in helping his friends and was extremely brave in defending his family until the end. I also like to think that he, Lily and Severus get along pretty well in the afterlife.

The Magic Begins: Day 8 - A scene you really wanted to be in the movies, but wasn’t.

“You’d think people had better things to gossip about,” said Ginny as she sat on the common room floor, leaning against Harry’s legs and reading the Daily Prophet. “Three Dementor attacks in a week, and all Romilda Vane does is ask me if it’s true you’ve got a Hippogriff tattooed across your chest.”
Ron and Hermione both roared with laughter. Harry ignored them.
What did you tell her?”
I told her it’s a Hungarian Horntail,” said Ginny, turning a page of the newspaper idly. “Much more macho.”
Thanks,” said Harry, grinning. “And what did you tell her Ron’s got?”
A Pygmy Puff, but I didn’t say where.”

“Ginny, listen…I can’t be involved with you anymore. We’ve got to stop seeing each other. We can’t be together.”
“It’s for some stupid noble reason isn’t it?”

Lily & James

“How come she married him?” Harry asked miserably. “She hated him!”
“Nah, she didn’t,” said Sirius.
“She started going out with him in seventh year,” said Lupin.
“Once James had deflated his head a bit,” said Sirius.
“And stopped hexing people just for the fun of it,” said Lupin.

“It was, he thought, the difference between being dragged into the arena to face a battle to the death and walking into the arena with your head held high. Some people, perhaps, would say that there was little to choose between the two ways, but Dumbledore knew - and so do I, thought Harry, with a rush of fierce pride, and so did my parents - that there was all the difference in the world.”

The Magic Begins: Day 1 - Favorite Character

Neville Longbottom, a hero in his own right

…Nor had he said anything on the subject of Bellatrix and her fellow torturers’ escape; in fact, he barely spoke during D.A. meetings anymore, but worked relentlessly on every new jinx and countercurse Harry taught them, his plump face screwed up in concentration, apparently indifferent to injuries or accidents, working harder than anyone else in the room. He was improving so fast it was unnerving and when Harry taught them the Shield Charm, a means of deflecting minor jinxes so that they rebounded upon the attacker, only Hermione mastered the charm faster than Neville.
